FAQ

WHAT EXACTLY IS VIRTUAL REALITY?

Step into Augmentality Labs, and you immerse yourself in casting spells, blasting zombies, or exploring new worlds. The possibilities are limitless. With our room-scale and sandbox setup your full body and hand movements are tracked to create a completely interactive experience. Your headset is connected to a gaming desktop with a high-end graphics card which paints a brilliant display. And, of course, we have a wide variety of single- and multi-player games in our library. The experience is unreal. Don’t take our word for it, come try it out! The VR world is always evolving, its best to see that evolution with us!

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

We currently have 12 VR stations featuring the HTC Vive system. You will wear a headset and hold controllers, and your every move is tracked by two base stations. The Vive is connected to a high-end gaming desktop as well as a TV for spectators to view the in-game play. We may also use the Vive Pro, and/or the Valve Index in the building.

HOW LONG SHOULD I PLAN TO SPEND ON THIS?

We've found that virtual reality is a social experience. Not only can you interact with each other in multiplayer games, it's fun to watch others play and to take turns trying to beat each other's high scores. Book several stations together with your friends and play with/against each other in-headset. A standard session is 30 minutes, but you can always add back-to-back sessions for 70, 110, or 150 minutes! Larger groups (6 stations and higher) need to book a minimum of 70 minutes.

I'M NOT REALLY INTO VIDEO GAMES. WILL I ENJOY VIRTUAL REALITY?

The experience is unlike any other and definitely worth a try; we know you’ll be hooked. We have a variety of games and experiences, so if exploring the Icelandic wilderness is more your speed than soldiering up in Call of Duty, we'll have something you're into. It is equally enjoyable for gamers and non-gamers alike! Check out our games list here! There is something for everyone, and everyone has a great time! Sometimes 30 minutes isn’t enough because you aren’t ready to call it quits.

IS THIS SAFE? WILL I GET NAUSEOUS OR LIGHT-HEADED?

Virtual reality is perfectly safe, and many advances have been made in the technology since its introduction to ensure a very low risk of nausea and disorientation. However, if you are not use to VR movement, or are prone to motion sickness, then the staff can recommend experiences where teleportation is used as a movement, or you are stationary in the game. There will always be a risk of motion sickness, and each game can have a different effect.

ARE THERE ANY PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS THAT WILL HINDER MY EXPERIENCE?

Full body motion is required for most games. This includes walking around the space, ducking or dodging, and moving your arms and head. However, many experiences can be modified and only require movement of the head, and we have experiences that can be done standing or seated. Our venue itself is accessible as well; It is a single story location with a handicap accessible ramp. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss any concerns and we will be happy to make accommodations.

HOW DOES THE WEEKDAY PLAY PASS WORK?

Our Weekday Play Passes are available every Tuesday and Wednesday and offer 2 hours of play for $40/station. These slots are limited and only 4 time slots available during those days. You are booking the 2 hours of time during those available slots, so you can come in late or leave early as long as it doesn’t impede on another time slot. We can accept walk in customers at any time, as long as you are aware that you can only play until the next time slot, so some customers may not get the entire 2 hours of play unless you wait until the next time slot. We prefer online bookings for these days to maximize your time.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

All groups can make any changes to their booking up until 24 hours before the booking start. Within 24 hours, only a reschedule is allowed up until session start time. If your session is missed, intentionally or accidentally, you will not be eligible for a reschedule or a refund. There are exceptions to the rescheduling policy as inclement weather and such. **WALK IN CUSTOMERS DO NOT GET RESCHEDULES OR REFUNDS UNLESS DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL (WEATHER, POWER OUTAGES, ETC)

CAN I BRING MY FRIENDS/FAMILY/SIGNIFICANT OTHER?
Yes! VR is a spectator sport, and you can always watch others play on our TVs hooked to every headset. We also have multiplayer options: if you sign up for more than one station, you can play games together from inside VR. Each participant needs their own VR station. You can share a VR headset if you so desire (one person playing and one person watching) and that is limited to 2 persons swapping on a headset. Keep in mind that while we allow 2 persons to swap, we don’t regulate when during your session. Our job is to make sure the ones on the headsets are having the best time possible. The group should decide when they want to swap out. The best experience is to book one station for each of you so that everyone can experience VR together.

HOW MANY GAMES CAN I PLAY DURING MY SESSION?

Your slot is completely time-based - so you can play as many games as you want to choose! Realistically, we find that most people play 1-3 games during a 30 min session.

DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?

Yes - however, we definitely recommend pre-booking your slots! If you walk in, we cannot guarantee availability. You can always check our real time availability on our booking site, and booking has never been easier!

DO THE GAMES EVER CHANGE?

Yes they can. We test our current games for stability and we are always adding new games to our expanding inventory. We will add new ones based on your feedback and our own research into the latest games that have performed strongly in testing phases. We currently have one the most robust catalogs in the nation. Have any great recommendations? Please share them with the staff.

I HAVE GLASSES. CAN I EXPERIENCE VR?

You certainly can! We recommend wearing contacts if possible, but the headset does fit over most glasses. Sometimes both our near-sighted and far-sighted friends need to use their corrective lenses, so bring them to be safe.

ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS?

Any age 6 years of age and older can play, but we do require a parent on site with all minors under 17 and a signed waiver on file for all players. We CANNOT allow anyone under the age of 6 to play on the headsets. Typically, kids who are 8+ have the best experience. We have had plenty of kids younger than that, but it's on a case-by-case basis to see if everything will fit and be comfortable for them. All participants must be able to read the titles and game descriptions. They also have to able to use our software on their own.
